"Smoking Cessation" Classes

Freedom From Smoking with the American Cancer Society

Florida Hospital Heartland Division Health Education department offers the American Lung Association's "Freedom from Smoking" classes free of charge. This eight-week clinic helps smokers and dippers create a supportive environment to break the tobacco addiction. Each person who joins this program will develop an individual plan for stoppping.

Emphasis will be on long-term freedom from tobacco. Participants will identify the pitfalls of relapse, and carefully plan to prevent it. The program includes the latest skills for good stress management, weight control, assertive communiciation and exercise -- skills to help them succeed.

During the program, the instructor will teach a step-by-step method for changing behavior and stopping tobacco use. This group approach uses positive thinking, alternative behaviors, one-on-one help, rewards and group support to help participants stop using tobacco products.

Class Information

This eight-week program begins October 27, 2008, and meets once each week for 1.5 hours in the Florida Hospital Wauchula conference room located at the corner of W. Carlton Street and Florida Ave., in Wauchula.  There is no cost, but preregistration is required. For upcoming classes, please check our "Event Calendar."
