Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists are licensed health professionals who evaluate and treat individuals with a variety of health problems. We provide services to patient/clients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in health status resulting from injury or disease. Our goal is to help our patients achieve a more active, independent lifestyle.

Our physical therapists address the following problems and conditions:

  • Balance and Walking Disorders
  • Generalized & Localized Weakness
  • Pain
  • Decreased Functional Mobility
  • Decreased Localized Mobility
  • Postural & Structural Abnormalities

Occupational Therapy

We provide occupational therapy treatments for those individuals whose abilities to cope with the tasks of everyday living are threatened by physical illness, injury, psychosocial disability, or developmental deficits. Our goal is to achieve maximum independence and to enhance the quality of life of our patients/clients.

Our occupational therapists address the following problems and conditions:

  • Decreased Independence in Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s)
  • Hand and Upper Extremity Dysfunction
  • Poor Functional Endurance
  • A Need for Adaptive/Assistive Equipment
  • A Need for Splinting

Speech Therapy 

Our speech language pathologists evaluate and treat patients with oral, motor or speech, and language defects. We strive to improve the individual’s overall communication and swallowing skills through a wide array of specialized treatment techniques.

Our speech therapists address the following problems and conditions:

  • Speech Disorders/Dysfunction
  • Impaired Verbal Comprehension
  • A Need for Nonverbal Communication Skills
  • Swallowing Disorders

Patient Courtesies

To maintain a timely schedule and a comfortable atmosphere for all of our patients, we ask your cooperation with the following:

  1. If unable to attend a scheduled treatment session, please call early to reschedule.
  2. Please notify your therapist of any pending doctor visits or consultations.
  3. Please be aware of your insurance company’s regulations; if authorization is required prior to treatment, it may take a few days for us to schedule you. We will make every effort to do so as quickly as possible.
  4. Handicapped parking is available at each of our Therapy Centers.
  5. All children in the waiting room must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  6. We ask that you refrain from having visitors in the treatment area.
  7. This is a no smoking facility, however smoking is allowed in limited, designated areas.
  8. Coffee and water are always available; feel free to help yourself, or ask a staff member for assistance.

Billing Services

Billing for the Therapy Centers is done through Florida Hospital Heartland Division. Our staff will ask for your personal and insurance information prior to or during registration for your visit. We accept a wide variety of payment sources. Some require a co-payment or pre-authorization as listed below:

  1. Private Payment - Collected when services are rendered unless other arrangements are made.
  2. Medicare - No pre-authorization required. Co-payment is not due when services are rendered, but will be billed later.
  3. Medicaid - Pre-authorization is required and can be done in our office. Medipass recipients’ coverage must be verified and authorized by phone. Co-payments per visit may apply.
  4. Commercial Insurance - Authorization required; we verify coverage and type of benefits by phone. Co-payments per visit may apply.
  5. Worker’s Compensation - Authorization required from the Worker’s Comp Carrier (this may take a few days to obtain).
  6. Automobile Insurance - Authorization required; we verify coverage and the types of benefits by phone. Co-payments per visit may apply.
  7. Employees Of FHHD - On hospital insurance plan, co-payments per visit apply.

Florida Hospital Wauchula - Comprehensive intensive rehabilitation services at our Transitional Care Unit. We help you recover from your hip/knee surgery or from a stroke so that you can go home.
