Daybreak Behavioral Health

Daybreak Behavioral Health at Florida Hospital Heartland Division brings together a team of highly qualified professionals that includes psychiatrists, psychotherapists and psychiatric nurses who offer comprehensive care for individuals who are encountering a wide range of emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, schizophrenia and more.

Daybreak provides a continuum of care that includes individual and family therapy, structured outpatient programs for adults and a specialty Behavioral Health Unit for senior adults. The services are designed to enhance skills and resources that foster personal dignity, independence, self-confidence, self-reliance and quality of life for each participant.

Inpatient Program

The Daybreak Behavioral Health Unit for Seniors is located in Florida Hospital Lake Placid. The Unit offers acute psychiatric care for persons age 55 and over in need of immediate intervention and is also designated as a Baker Act Receiving Facility. Patients receive 24 hour-a-day supervision and intensive treatment in a therapeutic environment. To enhance recovery, participation in a structured program that includes psychotherapy, group activities and life skills classes is encouraged. Under the direction of a psychiatrist, the treatment team develops a treatment and discharge plan that includes recommendations for aftercare, follow-up and community resource integration. Individuals are treated safely and effectively, evaluating and resolving crisis situations that have occurred precipitating the admission.

Outpatient Programs

Daybreak Structured Outpatient Programs are psychiatrically supervised programs tailored to meet the individual needs of adults age 18 years and older who benefit from intense behavioral health treatment but who do not need the acute treatment of an inpatient setting. It is a less costly, less restrictive and a more flexible alternative to full hospitalization, but offers a more structured treatment program than traditional outpatient therapy. Patients participate in intensive group therapies for two hours per day, up to five days per week. Transportation is available as needed.

Daybreak Counseling Centers are located on the Florida Hospital Heartland campuses and offer outpatient behavioral health services for all ages. Services include individual, couples and family counseling. The Access Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also available. The EAP provides therapy and consultation services to selected area businesses and their employees.

Confidential Assessments & Referrals

Confidential assessments may be provided at no cost by qualified behavioral health professionals who, under physician direction, determine the need for intervention and provide referral for the most appropriate level of care.

Referrals

Referrals may be made by physicians, nurses, family members, clergy, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, therapists or others concerned about the welfare of a given individual. Individuals may also inquire about the services on their own behalf.
